United Methodist Women

A community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission thru participation in the global ministries of the church. Emphasis for UMW missions worldwide is on women, youth and children.

Membership in Cokesbury's unit of UMW is open to all women. The unit consists of five circles. Three meet monthly, September to May and one meets year round. Circle meetings include a program, circle business, mission discussions and refreshments. Craft Ladies meet weekley.

Anna Circle meets monthly thruout the year at 5:45 p.m., on the third Wednesday of the month. Crafts are a big part of this circle's meetings. Anna Circle meets in members homes. Contact co-leaders Jen Worth, 375-5454, or Joyce Blackwelder, 476-6762, for meeting locations.

Abigail Circle meets at 9:30 a.m., on the third Tuesday of the month at Mc Clain Hall on the Summit campus.

Naomi Circle meets at 1:00 p.m., on the third Tuesday of the month at McClain Hall on the Summit campus. The contact person for Naomi Circle is Dottie Brooks, 476-0675.

Ruth Circle meets at 11:30 a.m., on the third Thursday of the month at the home of Sarah Smith-Scales, 476-8625.

Craft Ladies meet weekly on Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Asbury Place on the 9th Avenue campus. Co-Leaders are Shirley Hoffman, 433-1439; Terry Tillett, 476-6607; and Sue White, 476-1634.

All the circles welcome visitors, with the hope that you will decide their circle is the right one for you. You will be warmly welcomed. We are all about fellowship and "time away" among Christian sisters.

Gracious Ladies
A group of women 55+ who meet on the second Sunday of the month immediately following the 10:45 worship service.They eat their noon meal and fellowship together at a nearby restaurant. They also do various activities such as attend plays and go on local tours.
