Manna Food Pantries - We encourage Cokesbury members to include Manna Food Pantries in their regular weekly grocery shopping and to bring items to the shopping cart in the 9th Avenue Atrium each week when they come to worship. Habitat for Humanity work days are scheduled at least quarterly on Saturdays from 8:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Volunteers can sign up for a partial or a full workday. Projects include framing, roofing, siding, painting, and landscaping. No special skills are required as there are experienced habitat personnel to instruct all volunteers. Tools are provided. Super Sale is our primary fund raiser for our mission projects. It is usually held the first Saturday in June from 7:00 A.M. till 1:30 P.M. Volunteers are needed beginning on Monday and each day prior to the sale for setting up the donated items on the 9th Avenue campus. Each work area coordinator will be responsible for finding volunteers to work in their area.
Our Nicaragua Mission Trip is scheduled for July 18-25. We will return to the mountainous coffee growing region around Matagalpa where we will provide medical and dental services, construction, and Vacation Bible School. Team members could be asked to serve in any or all areas. Specific experience/skills are not a requirement - simply a divine call to serve, a flexible attitude, and a willing spirit. To donate needed supplies (toothpaste, toothbrushes, and children's vitamins), bring them to the 9th Avenue Atrium, and place them in the Nicaragua suitcase. Henderson Settlement Work Camp is scheduled for October in the Appalachian Mountains near Frakes, Kentucky. A wide range of opportunities exist for all ages and interests to serve at Henderson Settlement both on and off campus. This UMVIM project often serves as the bridge between dreams and reality for mountain families. Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse. Sponsored by the United Methodist Men in the fall of the year, it encourages church members to pack shoes boxes with gifts for children to be sent to areas all over the world, including areas of our own country. Loaves and Fishes Ministries: Soup Kitchen serves homeless families in temporary shelter while receiving counseling to seek next steps. Transitional HousingProgram offers housing, counseling, educational environment designed to move the clients from homeless to productive members of the community over a two year period. It’s a Blessing Food Ministry is part of Pensacola United Methodist Community Ministries and is located at Richards Memorial UMC. Volunteers are needed one Saturday each month 7:00 A.M. - 9:30 A.M. to pack boxes for food distribution. Contact Frances Wilkinson, 432-9788 or Stuart Worth, 476-5818.

The Alfred Washburn Center is a 100% volunteer organization serving the area’s homeless and poorest since 2001. It is the only facility in Pensacola to provide shower and laundry facilities for the homeless. It also provides sack lunches, snack, phone and mail services. Volunteers are needed Monday - Thursday and Saturday, from 10:00 - 1:00 P.M.
